    Named J0529-4351, this quasar stands as the brightest object ever detected in the known universe, its light taking more than 12 billion years to reach Earth. Quasars, the intensely luminous nuclei of distant galaxies, are fueled by supermassive black holes that accumulate matter from their surroundings. This process releases immense energy, emitting copious amounts of light. J0529-4351 shines with a brilliance 500 trillion times that of our sun, showcasing the extreme conditions and processes that govern the cosmos.
