Halo Space Ushers in a New Era of Stratospheric Journeys from Saudi Arabia

Launching a transformative initiative that’s set to alter the global tourism landscape, Saudi Arabia is gearing up to be a central departure point for space tourism enthusiasts. With tickets available at $164,000 each, this initiative is spearheaded by Halo Space, a Madrid-based leader in the realm of extraterrestrial tourism, established in 2021. This enterprise marks Saudi Arabia as a strategic launch site, with a crucial test flight scheduled for June—a precursor to the full-scale commercial operations slated for 2026.

This upcoming test flight, which has garnered provisional approval from Saudi Arabia’s Communications, Space & Technology Commission, signifies Halo Space’s sixth venture into the skies, aiming for an altitude of 32km above the Earth. The journey leverages an aerospace balloon to carry a pressurized capsule designed for eight passengers and one pilot. This innovative capsule is equipped with wide panoramic windows, ensuring passengers an immersive 360-degree viewing experience of Earth’s magnificence from a vantage point near space.

Halo Space is set to offer a unique travel experience, spanning four to six hours, including a significant time at the journey’s peak altitude. This high point in the trip provides passengers with a rare opportunity to observe the curvature of the Earth against the vast backdrop of space. The ascent, propelled gently by helium balloons, is engineered to be smooth and gradual, mitigating the intense acceleration and high G-forces typical of conventional space launches. This thoughtful approach makes the experience accessible to a broader audience, eliminating the need for extensive preparatory training.

Saudi Arabia’s Visionary Approach to Tourism

The introduction of this novel tourism form in Saudi Arabia is in line with the Kingdom’s ambitious plans to diversify its economy and enhance its position as a top-tier destination for travelers. This venture into space tourism underscores Saudi Arabia’s dedication to pioneering and attracting tourists from across the globe, seeking the ultimate adventure.

With an eye on launching commercial flights by 2026 and aiming to achieve 400 flights annually by 2029, Halo Space endeavors to bring the thrill of space closer to the public. This venture represents a significant milestone in the evolution of travel, offering an enticing preview of a future where space becomes the next frontier for adventurers and explorers. As Halo Space and Saudi Arabia pave the way, the anticipation for this new chapter in exploration grows ever stronger.
