This investment aims to accelerate the debut of two new Delta-class spacecraft and a second mothership by two years, with plans to have them operational by 2028. By then, Virgin Galactic’s fleet is expected to consist of multiple active vehicles, enhancing the company’s capacity for regular commercial operations.
Key Development Milestones
A significant portion of the funds will be allocated to developing a new mothership, similar to the current VMS Eve, but designed entirely in-house after the conclusion of a collaboration with Aurora Flight Sciences. The design phase is set to begin in 2025, with production slated for 2026. This new mothership will play a pivotal role in increasing flight operations and achieving Virgin Galactic’s financial targets.

Pioneering the Space Tourism Industry
Virgin Galactic’s progress in building its Delta-class vehicles is on track. Partner companies Bell Textron and Qarbon Aerospace are advancing the development of components and tools necessary for the assembly. The first Delta spacecraft is expected to be ready by 2025, with commercial operations commencing by 2028.
